I am a huge hockey fan, so much so that my hubby and I were married in our hockey jerseys, He was wearing the Montreal Canadiens and I was wearing the Toronto Maple Leafs (of course). What can I say opposites attract!

My favourite time of year is Fall, sweater weather, gorgeous colours; and I secretly love the demolition derby at the Fall Fair.

Favourite place to vacation – a cottage. Sitting on the dock, taking in the view by day, and watching the fire at night. I’ll never turn down a cottage invite.

A few years ago, if you asked anyone close to me they would have said “of course she’s successful”. I had been with the same organization for more than 20 years progressing through several leadership roles, I had a fabulous family, a young son, amazing friends, a great home and a loving husband.
The thing is, too many decisions in my life were not really decisions, they were me letting life happen to me. Take the organization I was with, (don’t get me wrong I had a ton of opportunities) but most were opportunities that someone else offered and I didn’t say no. I had never given much thought to who I wanted to be when I grew up. I just took on the next thing, I had a jam packed social calendar. More work than I ever wanted, which came with a commute that had me out of my house for more than 14 hours every day.
In my last year with that company I had mounting responsibilities, I was a mom, a wife, a leader, a friend, a sister. I was also frustrated, sad and pissed off at myself, and so many others. The combination of my responsibilities, others expectations and my feelings landed me in a place where I forgot how to smile.
FEAR, PEOPLE PLEASING, RESPONSIBILITY, NOT BELIEVING IN ME
I decided, (with a little help) that I was going to get to know me, to dream, to find out who I wanted to be as I was growing up. I worked to understand what matters to me and what really doesn’t. After lots of tears and laughter and quiet time reflecting, I found my voice. My smile is back, You might even catch me skipping down the hall from time to time. I will always be a work in progress, but now I know what I am working towards. I have an incredibly clear picture of what’s possible for me.
